The electric power system can no longer be planned or operated in separate isolated silos. The CIGRE OneGrid Initiative workshop “Strategic Coordination Within the Electric Power Grid Community”, to be held in Ljubljana on 3 March 2027, will confront this reality. Voltage control, reactive power compensation and asset readiness no longer stop at voltage boundaries, and distributed generation is turning local conditions into system-level challenges. Equipment designed for yesterday’s grid will not meet tomorrow’s demands, so its design must follow the changes already taking place in the network. Experts and decision-makers will share practice on compensation devices, emergency curtailment of renewables, flexibility and joint TSO–DSO projects. TSOs, DSOs, regulators, researchers and industry from Slovenia and South-East Europe will be invited to shape solutions together.
